Bruce Willis leads this week’s celebrity homes for sale
Wednesday 7th of December 2011
This week, Bruce Willis listed his Idaho ski property on the market. Willis’ lakeside ranch, the latest of this month’s celebrity homes for sale, spans 20 acres and sits in Hailey, frequently empty.
The lack of time spent by the actor in the home is the
reason for him selling, his agent told The
Wall Street Journal. The 8,400 square foot home was bought by the Die Hard
actor in 2003 and features “a heated pool with water slides, a waterfall and a
rope swing”, in addition to other man-made water features around the estate.
Willis hopes someone will "buy hard"
The property, which also includes a gym and a detached guesthouse, has an asking price of $15 million.
Willis is also selling another of his properties in Sun Valley, evidently hoping that investors will "buy hard". The actor’s bar (called The Mint) has the lower asking price of $4.5 million. The venue has been reduced in price from $6 million, when it was listed in August of last year.
Celebrity homes drop in price
The Sixth Sense star is not the only celebrity lowering the cost of his real estate. David Spade, star of Rules of Engagement and TV show Just Shoot Me!, has recently put his house up for sale at $13.5 million – a significantly lower price than in 2007, when he listed the Malibu beach home for $16 million.
The luxury home, which spans 3,763 square feet, was purchased by Spade in 2005 for $9.3 million, reports AOL. After a substantial redesign, which introduced four fireplaces and doors opening onto the beach front, the Saturday Night Live comic’s house will still sell at a profit of several million dollars.
While Spade’s upgraded interiors prove the investment value
of a high-end property, it is a sign of the economic climate that even homes
with star wattage and luxurious features are still struggling to find buyers.
